This has given a boost to global stock markets. The good news aside, we should pay attention to the fact that while Donald Trump said during a telephone conversation with Xi Jinping that he would help China in the fight against the plague, he did not forget to hurry China to fulfil its promise to increase its purchase of US goods. Furthermore, just one day after aid donated by the US arrived in Wuhan, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned US governors that China's infiltration into US states will threaten the US's core values. It is not difficult to realise that while the US will not kick China while it is down, it will not let up in its effort to contain China.
