【明報專訊】Violence has changed Hong Kong. The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Hong Kong has said that nearly half of its member companies are pessimistic about Hong Kong's long-term outlook, and is calling for a cessation of violence as soon as possible and urging the government to step up its effort in facilitating reconciliation. While there was nearly zero political risk in Hong Kong in the past, this situation is gone forever. In the eyes of foreign investors, not only is political risk in Hong Kong rapidly heightening, but it could become a structural, long-term presence here. All sides in Hong Kong, the SAR government and even the central government have to contemplate seriously how to handle such change.
