The cables, supposedly confidential, were leaked and exposed by the media. Trump hit back on a social media platform and described Darroch as "wacky" and "stupid". The argument ended with Darroch's resignation as ambassador. But the diplomatic row might not have ended. Despite this, however, the unshakeable alliance between the two countries will not be affected by the occasional sparring.
