Editorial : Don't let Hong Kong become city of melancholy

【明報專訊】THE School of Public Health of the HKU Faculty of Medicine has published a mental health study that tracks symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts over the past decade. Following the outbreaks of social events in recent years, symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts among Hong Kong people have increased by the day. The firestorm provoked by the proposed amendment of the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance has driven up the percentage of Hong Kong people having symptoms of suspected depression to 9.1 percent, meaning that nearly one out of ten people is depressed.
