I shall but love thee better after death.）、人生的悲喜跌宕（I love thee with the breath, / Smiles, tears, of all my life! ），甚至維多利亞時期追求公正、謙遜等價值觀（I love thee freely, as men strive for Right; / I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.）。用字簡潔有力，但感情豐富強烈，韻律工整，實在是神來之筆。
