Editorial : US's threats to ICC

【明報專訊】THE Trump administration in the US has threatened to sanction the International Criminal Court (ICC). On 10 September, John Bolton, the National Security Advisor of the US, issued the threat that Washington would impose financial sanctions and bring criminal charges against ICC judges if they took action against any American citizens. On the same day, the US government also announced that it would close the Palestine Liberation Organisation's (PLO) office in Washington. It is generally believed that the US government chose to issue this threat on the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks to ease the moral and judicial pressure it is under.
