Editorial﹕''Achievement gap'' should be bridged

【明報專訊】NON-JUPAS students make up as high as 30-50% of the intake in several programmes offered by the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong with high admission thresholds. In the HKU Faculty of Medicine, the proportion of JUPAS students admitted has even declined significantly to less than 50%, and that has provoked a lot of discussions. Some people argue that universities are favouring affluent students who study the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, unfairly putting ordinary DSE candidates at a disadvantage.
