【明報專訊】CHIEF EXECUTIVE Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor's attendance at the Democratic Party's anniversary dinner and her donation of $30,000 right at the event have become the talk of political circles lately. Some argue that she was being partial by donating to the Democratic Party. However, many people are glad to see less hostility and more peace in the political atmosphere. While Hong Kong's political deadlock cannot be solved easily by mere political posturing, the government and the pro-democratic camp should at least be open to discussion with each other regarding livelihood issues. Whether the "gridlock" in the Legislative Council's Finance Committee and the Public Works Subcommittee can be eased will be an indicator of whether the Executive-Legco relationship has substantially improved.
