【明報專訊】Change typically involves speed, scale, direction, or desirability. If change is seen, it is therefore perceptible or discernible. It may be evident or palpable to some and undetected or unobserved by others. When change is appreciable, it is marked and significant. It may have happened quickly (accelerated) or emerged gradually, whereby it could be intensifying, deepening, or mounting. It can take place in stages (graduated, incremental) but if it develops (evolves) and widens its influence (expands), then things can escalate. The change may be continuous (in a state of flux), lasting, permanent (sustained/sustainable), or only temporary (transitory). Change may cause circumstances or trends to move in a different direction (deviate, shift) or in many directions (dispersed).
