【明報專訊】Congratulations, Kazuo Ishiguro, on winning the Nobel Prize in Literature. About nine years ago during a holiday in Taipei, I bought The Remains of the Day, which won Ishiguro the Booker Prize. Back then it was rather difficult to find his books in local book stores. I made sure I snatched his books in another trip to Taipei. His soul-penetrating stories create such strong impact on the reader that they are worth a second and third read. In 1995, he received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his services to literature, among many other honours.
