The Crown, a new Netflix original series, tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II's early reign, revealing intrigues, romances and political rivalries behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. It is set in 1947. Britain is still reeling from the devastation of the Second World War. Streets and buildings destroyed in the air raids have yet to be rebuilt.
