【明報專訊】IT has repeatedly been shown by the Consumer Council's (CC) and several experts' studies on retail auto-fuel prices charged by oil companies that, even when international crude oil prices are falling sharply, it remains the case that Hong Kong auto-fuel prices respond to international oil price increases quickly and substantially, and to oil price decreases, slowly and minimally. A recent study conducted by the CC shows that the gap between pump prices and import prices has widened further. Compared with the figures in 2013, the difference widened to 60 cents per litre in the first quarter of this year.
