【明報專訊】The fresh Oscar Best Picture Spotlight has something very uplifting, but sceptical at the same time. Based on a series of stories written by the "Spotlight" team, the longest-running investigative unit under The Boston Globe, the film narrates its investigation into the Roman Catholic church's systematic child abuse in the Boston area and beyond. Not only was the team fully supported by the editorial board, but it was also free from major threats coming from the Church (if you don't count bribes as one). Hard as the investigative process proved to be, the journalists published a full-fledged series of story leading to ripple effects in society - something I am genuinely happy about.
