Slade was one of the most recognisable bands of the glam rock movement, when performers would create distinct images for themselves by wearing flamboyant make-up and clothing and hairstyles. The early 1970s saw their greatest successes. Unfortunately, their plan to expand their influence in the US flopped. They made a comeback and enjoyed some more successes in the 1980s.
