Macklemore is quite an uncommon name. It is a superhero's name created by rapper Macklemore, born Ben Haggerty, for a project at high school. About ten years ago, the 32-year-old hip hop artist released his full-length debut, The Language of My World. In 2012, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who is a successful DJ, photographer and producer, stunned the music scene with the duo's Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us - two singles from their album The Heist. Not only did the two tracks reach the top of the US singles chart, but the achievement also made Macklemore the second artist having a number one hit without being signed to any record label.
