【明報專訊】Recently, many friends have asked me to join volunteering schemes to provide free tutoring service to students of poor family background, or to join various public campaigns organised by NGOs to champion (捍衛) change and justice in society. Volunteering is often referred to as unpaid activities to promote societal well-being, usually through helping the needy. In societies with strong Christian or Buddhist tradition, volunteering is often part of the religious practice of delivering missionary or communal (公用的) services.
