【明報專訊】When asked why they like Hong Kong, not many people would relate to the city's well-developed public sports facilities, often unduly overshadowed by the government's inefficient sports policies that fail to promote sportsmanship. Gone were the golden days when football fans would fill the stadium weekly, taking pride in their homegrown heroes on the field. Instead, we hear of underfunded sports teams lamenting their meagre (微薄的) allowances and the difficulty in sustaining themselves. One would suppose the government lacks money to tackle any sports-related issues. These stories, in addition to Hong Kong's close-to-impossible working hours that champion Asia if not the world, have given rise to private gyms packed with busy professionals during lunch hours, when public sports facilities are often neglected in the whole discussion about sports.
