【明報專訊】At any given time, I receive from Facebook a list of suggested persons for ''friending''. Without intending to ''collect'' friends in social media, I nonetheless would click on the profile of these suggested friends-of-friends. Eventually, I end up ''friending'' two to three of them each week. Making friends this way not only expands my social circle but also helps to oil the engine of Facebook. Needless to say, some of the friendships made this way are only virtual in nature: many ''FB friends'' have never met, or will never meet, each other. But sometimes we befriend old classmates and long-lost relatives this way, even ex-lovers from a long time ago.
