【明報專訊】BECAUSE OF the fight about constitutional reform, things in Hong Kong rapidly worsened in the past three days. After students had suddenly occupied the East Wing Forecourt of the Central Government Offices (which citizens call Civic Square) last Friday night by the end of their class boycott, demonstrators continually clashed with police officers on duty, who fired tear gas at them in an attempt to disperse them. Hong Kong is now at a critical juncture of order and chaos. If both the opposition and the authorities stick to their own guns instead of seeking a compromise, there will be no telling what may be done in defiance of the government.
