The City Wanderer : Tips from a vegetarian
文章日期:2014年9月1日

【明報專訊】Being a vegetarian is not always easy in Hong Kong, this world-acclaimed foodie paradise we call home. Fine-dining restaurants typically serve an exciting array of vegetarian options, but sadly not at my favourite local diners. The Asian diet traditionally contains less meat than its Western counterpart, but does not tend to exclude it completely in any dish. A plain bowl of soup noodles would make a perfect meal until I remember the broth (湯) contains prawns and pork. As hard as I try to maintain a meat-free diet, I often find it necessary to resort to pescetarianism (魚素生活), which allows fish and seafood. This opens up a whole range of easier dining options, including, of course, sushi, a light and convenient choice available every 5 steps in the city.
