Loud calls have again been heard on the mainland and elsewhere for Beijing to reverse its verdict on it and undo the Gordian knot of Chinese politics. This evidences not only hope that the new Chinese leadership will open up new dimensions but also concern about some perverse measures the authorities have lately taken about ideology.
