Natalie, you have written a fantastically entertaining and consistently engaging narrative. The appeal of your writing extends beyond youngsters to adults as it contains a humorous element which is not age-specific and complex themes which emerge from a simple account. On one hand, your story can be read simply as a tale of a six-year-old girl making a solo trip home from school; whilst on the other hand, you hint at larger themes of fear and victory. Creating a piece of writing which can be enjoyed at several different levels like this is reminiscent of the famous British writer, Roald Dahl, whose entertaining tales often contain unexpected endings and, sometimes, dark humour. Let's have a look at how you've decided to present your story to the reader.
