【明報專訊】A MOTION calling on the government to buy back the Link Real Estate Investment Trust was defeated in the Legislative Council last week. Formerly, because of the inefficient management of the shopping centres under the Housing Authority, there was widespread public support for the flotation of the Link REIT; in recent years, however, the Link's exorbitant rent increases have led to bitter complaints from shop tenants.
