【明報專訊】THE government insists that the Moral and National Education subject is not introduced for brainwashing purposes. Secretary for Education Eddie Ng Hak-kim, for instance, published an article in a newspaper yesterday saying that "the Moral and National Education subject aims at fostering independence and independent thinking in students, so that they may be able to tell what is right and what is wrong". This lofty ideal, however, appears phoney when seen through The China Model National Conditions Teaching Manual published with a government subsidy by the National Education Services Centre (NESC), a subsidiary of the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers (HKFEW).
