【明報專訊】Hotel是酒店。住酒店的時候，房間大都是隨意分配的。學生進大學通常可以分配到一個儲物櫃（locker），儲物櫃都是隨意分配的，不是價高者得，這個分配過程，英文叫hotelling。

監獄是prison，俗稱"His Majesty's hotel"或"the sheriff's hotel"。

Lock = 鎖住，固定。

Lock the stable door after the horse has gone = 賊走關門，賊過興兵。

朋友Julian問我，她忠於政黨「民建聯」的英文怎樣說。我們當然可以說Julian is a DAB loyalist。Loyal解作忠誠的、忠實的。「完全忠於一黨」可以考慮用Particularist。例句︰Tam Yiu-chung (譚耀宗) not only is loyal to DAB, he is a particularist。

Particular = 獨特的、異常的、顯著的。例句︰Mo Mo loves Bo Bo for no particular reason = Mo Mo喜歡Bo Bo，沒有什麼特殊理由。
