【明報專訊】Our base camp was situated on a beach. A beach might not be the perfect word for this place as it suggests (意味着) warm soft sand underfoot, and the sun glaring down with such fierceness that the only escape would be in the refreshing water. What we had was quite the opposite - dark stony terrain that was by no means soft, and bone-chilling breezes. The sea was studded all over with floating icebergs broken off from the huge glacier in the background.
