【明報專訊】Built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilisations (古文明 ) in the world, the pyramids (金字塔 ), especially the Great Pyramids of Giza (吉薩 ), are some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history. Their massive scale reflects the unique role that the Pharaoh (法老王), or king, played in ancient Egyptian society. A pharaoh is defined as someone in between the human and the divine (神明). It was believed that pharaohs were chosen by the gods to serve as mediators between them and people on earth.
