It is proudly situated in the Rimac Valley, with the rushing river of Rimac feeding into the city. No wonder Francisco Pizarro decided to found his capital right here after he had defeated the Inca Emperor Atahualpa in 1535. Coined the "City of The Kings", Lima (利馬) soon became an affluent centre of the colonial era.
