【明報專訊】There are now in Hong Kong 29 centres that provide correctional services. They are run by Hong Kong Correctional Services (香港懲教署). Those centres include prisons, drug addiction treatment centres, training centres (教導所) , detention centres (勞教中心), rehabilitation centres (更生中心) and psychiatric centres. It was in August 1841 that the first prison in Hong Kong came into operation. In March this year, there were 7,022 prisoners in the 14 prisons in the SAR.
